About Me

Hi, my name is Linus Kuhn, I'm 29 years old and I was born and raised in Stuttgart, Germany. Ever since childhood I've been fascinated by mechanical things that work and that could be taken apart. Since studying mechanical engineering, I've learned how to put them together professionally, and I've been striving ever since to develop exciting products more efficiently and better.

AI in the Way I Work

AI is fundamentally changing how we work. It boosts development output and makes it possible to solve problems of a complexity we haven't seen before. That's why I've thought deeply about my own workflows and knowledge architecture. The result is a development workflow in Obsidian that lets me handle most of my work template-based, agentically, or manually. How do I work with AI?

Physical AI — VLA & Robotics

The combination of a vision, language, and action model that translates into a physical action through a robotic system marks a fundamental shift in how humans and machines interact. Axial Flux Machine — Surrogate-Based Topology Optimization

YASA axial-flux machines offer outstanding torque density, but their 3D flux paths demand expensive transient 3D-FEM simulations. An adaptive sampling strategy (AMOP) builds a surrogate model linking design parameters to performance, while a self-developed constraint cascade narrows the global design space to the technically relevant region — derived purely from data, no heuristics required.

Manual Coffee Grinder Inspired by Charles Eames

Semester project: conceptualize, design, construct and build a manual coffee grinder based on the design language of a well-known designer — realized in walnut wood and an aluminium frame through a creative, iterative, sketch-based design process.

Autonomous Robot for Vehicle Test Automation

Development of a GPS-based mobile robot for test automation of autonomously parking vehicles. The project grew into an ecosystem of robots enabling further test scenarios for autonomous vehicles — now in productive use.

Velomobil — Aerodynamic Pedal Vehicle

An aerodynamically shaped vehicle with a low drag coefficient that helps gain speed while pedaling. The concept features a carbon fiber monocoque chassis with technical components sourced mostly from bicycles.

A racing boat with a carbon fiber hull, laminated using 3D-printed negative molds and driven by a 500W brushless DC motor with turboprop — one of the first projects built with my own 3D printer.
